Since I've decided to keep my Celica after all, figured I'd do something about the only thing really holding it back: the clear peel... Obviously the first thing I'll try doing is wet-sanding the afflicted area and try to touch up the clear, try and save the paint that's there. My concern though is the paint that's exposed will disappear in the process, then that leaves me with an even bigger problem. The only aerosol can I can find for my colour costs $30 per 10oz can... Though doing that it won't match the existing paint. Another option is a full car respray, but then we're talking multiple hundreds and lots of work for a colour I don't even like. Yes I could respray the car black, but then every time I open the hood or peel back the carpet and saw red I'd twitch and collapse. So the only other option is to just cover up the areas that're bad and hide it. My thought was maybe to just sticker bomb the areas that've peeled. Which I'm not crazy about the phase, but it has to look better than peeling clear... That or paint something on in the area, I don't know. I'm thinking about painting the door handles, mirrors, tag bezel, and maybe the headlight "pockets" in black. Anyhow, some pictures are below to illustrate the issue at hand. Any suggestions that don't include PlastiDip are welcomed.
