I have about $1,000 right now. My car is automatic, my dad and I have been researching and what not on how to do a transmission swap. Ive wanted to do a turbo but it seems to cost to much and it worried me about blowing the motor. Im about to roll over 100,000 miles in about 30minutes or so, after im done typing this.
Anyway, heres my question. Should I do a auto to manual transmission, with a TRD shortshift kit, and stage 1 clutch? Or should I turbo the automatic. Ive read all about the 5sfe $600 turbo setups at stock boost but nothing on a 7afe. I know where to get parts and what not but im afraid of what will happen to the motor. Im also one of those guys that wants a good turbo, not a cheap setup, id like to get an intercooler kit and blowoff valve. I just figure that im so close to a turbo setup money wise that if I did the turbo kit now that i could always get ahold of $600 for a tranny swap. Its a hard decision and my friends are split in the middle of which to do. Help me out guys. ---Scott -------------------- hows it taste motha f*cka

a $1500 setup is bare bones run no more than 4psi with my setup, aside from injectors, the only onther things i could have done would be porting and internal mods. i got mine running for $1600(again, bare bones, no means of adjustment, juust running rich and a little faster than a stock GT) with 4 weekends of labor, and just added stuff as i went along. but i spent a lot of time parts hunting and that saved me a lot of money at first, after a while i just decided to buy the first stuff i came across. i bought metal IC piping and a FMIC to replace the dsm smic and abs piping i had. and fuel pump and other things that kept adding up. my setup is now 100% bolt on(even comes with a oil pan) with the exception of the fmic setup, it was never used and neither was the piping, so those have to be cut to fit(easy) it was great while it lasted, and i am very tempted to do it again, but my sister want my car, which will give me a chance to get something either RWD or AWD -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
