new-to-me 99 gt convertible badly needs a clutch. i'll be doing the work myself over the next two weekends, so hopefully that'll give me enough time.

i already ordered the parts (aisin clutch kit, timken seals, sachs flywheel), along with every nut and bolt i'm probably going to break in the process.

this thread is just to ask for help along the way, post pics of my work, and get yelled at for not doing it the right way biggrin.gif

i plan on tearing it apart this weekend and putting it back together next weekend. then i can get it inspected and titled.

sweet, thanks.

i've done a clutch job before, but on my 93 pickup, so a fwd will be a bit different.

few questions:
-how long did the whole job take you? i've heard 6 hours to 3 days
-did you break anything? (ie, what should i watch out for)
-is there a pilot bearing? i haven't seen any mention of on anywhere
-how high did you raise the car?
-any hardware you replaced while it was apart anyway?
-and anything you forgot to order?

i know some of the questions might be trivial, but i couldn't find too much. maybe i'm just over-thinking it

thanks again

i can do a clutch in 4 hours
just tabs that hold wiring that are brittle, you are in MD so expect bolts to be hell getting off
no pilot bearing on FWD
i raised it as high as my jack-stand will let me
replace the flywheel bolts, get new ones from the dealer. they are supposed to be a one time use
new gear oil, i use plain 80/90 gear oil.
