So Sadly a few months ago a negligent driver ran a stop sign and t-boned my Celica. To say the least I was pretty depressed/angry that the love of my life was destroyed... I had some plans yet to be done, and a hand full of upgrades already carried out. But I had to come to terms with my carless state.
Luckily I am centrally located in my city and have been riding my bike as primary transportation. But i could never quite get Celica's out of my mind and felt super nostalgic/butt hurt every time i would see a 6gc. I finally received my settlement from the insurance company and was trying to decide what kind of car to get, I toyed with the idea of buying a smaller retro/classic car but that fell through because i didn't want to deal with the mpg or maintenance. Then i thought about just getting a Suburu or small truck, but then i was like screw it, '6gc 4 life!' haha. so the hunt began. Came across a whole lot of junkers and ultra high mileage Celi's but none of them seemed to be worth it. Then i found an ad for a Celica in Washington with a gt4 exterior conversion. At first i was a bit iffy on it because the guy had only owned it for a few months and didn't seem to know anything about the car or the parts it had. For a few weeks i was the fence about buying it, because what if it was all knock off parts or had been abused like most mod'd cars are, or maybe there is something else wrong with it. Then I thought to myself it would be crazy if the person who previously owned the car wasn't on this site. So i did a simple search, and Bam! found it. After I found the vehicles history on here i knew it was a clean buy, and the original owner seemed to take really good care of it. Hopped on a bus the next day and picked her up. Registered her today. Maybe some of you on here will recognize her, what do ya think? Upgrade! i still miss my old Celica, but this a more than adequate replacement. It has all the stuff my old Celi had plus more, I'm pretty happy with it. @ 97lestyousay This post has been edited by Wizardofodd: Oct 28, 2013 - 9:42 PM |

I saw he was selling it, he put 4000 miles on it in less than 3 months. lol
Hopefully he learned to drive a clutch, he took more life off it in the test drive than I did in 10 years. It has some issues, it burns some oil as 97 7afes seem to. The struts were shot, and it needs an alignment badly. It drives straight but eats the inside of the tires, check that soon or you might have a problem. 2 of the rims are bent, I think they are worth trying to save if you can find a place to fix them and if you like them. I had been wanting to buy a set of black 5 spokes with a polished lip, but never had money to do it. I had the front bumper re shot and they had some major issues during that ordeal, it looks ok but not their usual quality. I kinda halfa$$ed the crashbar with some heavy wall aluminum tube (very light duty, more of a 2 mph bumper than 5mph.) but it is more than I have ever had on it since the conversion. With all that said, it does have a new oem drivers side hub and bearing, and as I am sure you are aware some rare parts, the interior aside from the drivers seat and floormat was pretty much mint at least when I owned it. Sounds like he put a system in it hopefully he didn't do a hack job. I hope he gave you the extra stuff like the license bezel, spoiler and custom hellica emblem. Probably should check the front emblem I just basicly slapped it on with 4 little pieces off doubleback tape, just for a showing, and the guy ended up buying it. I told him about it and he may have fixed it, just letting you know because those emblems are not available anymore. Sadly most people around here are pricks (tricities WA), so I couldn't park it anywhere without getting a door ding or worrying about it getting messed with. It was almost a relief to get rid of it and not have to worry anymore.lol I wish you luck with her, she is definatly a beauty. The body was in very good shape along with most of the paint and totally rust free. I wish I could have kept it, but mostly it just sat in my garage collecting dust. I only drove it when I needed to feel alive, and those days are over. lol This post has been edited by 97lestyousay: Oct 29, 2013 - 6:00 AM -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.
