Hi everybody. I'm new to celica's and toyotas in general after coming from mainly building 13b rotarys. I found a nice 1998 Gt with an excellent body( which is very rare here) but the water pump failed and it over heated so it was sold cheap. The only motor here for sale are 2001 Camry motors. I know both engines are roughly the same except the Camry has coils. My question is can I swap the 2001 Camry motor in? I need to keep it the same motor for autoX classing. Can I swap the distributer over along with my other accessories and make it work or does the celica head need to be swapped over to the Camry block? Any info would be great. Thanks

fuel return has nothing to do with anything. the OP will use his rail and manifolds.
im not 100% sure if you can knock out a block off so you can use a distributor. not even sure if the new cams are keyed to turn a distributor. the 6th gen is a terrible autocross car, its heavy and slow with the 2.2L in it. not sure where you are but there are several engine swaps you could look into. 3S-GTE (which is a stock engine for the 6th gens.) BEAMS 3S-GE (also a stock engine for 6th gens) and there are V6 options -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
