lets all keep in mind that there will never be a replacement of the MK4 supra......... a car bearing its name maybe, but to replace that car would be a big mountain for toyota to climb..........

lets all keep in mind that there will never be a replacement of the MK4 supra......... a car bearing its name maybe, but to replace that car would be a big mountain for toyota to climb.......... This. If the FT1 makes it to production, it may very well be the successor to the Supra but I doubt if it will bear the Supra name, just the same as the FR-S/BRZ/GT-86 are the descendants of the AE86 but they don't bear the Corolla name. Toyota is very aware of what the mkIV has become and what it's capable of. I'm sure they are very aware that if they build a new car and call it a Supra, videos all of the world will turn up daily of mkIV's slaughtering mkV's. That wouldn't be good marketing at all if their new top tier sports car gets beat daily by its 20 year old predecessor. This car may be the spiritual successor to the Supr but in my opinion, it won't ever see that name. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. You have to keep moving up and improving on your cars, even if it's merely cosmetic or with regards to technology. From a sports car, you expect the new one to be faster, handle better, etc. What Mazda did with the RX-8 is like if Toyota continued with a MKV "Supra" as the 7th gen Celica...
