Coomer is currently working on our number one priority, spam management control.
While he is working on this, us mods have put forward a couple of ideas for the site. Now opening it up, to members so if you have any small/simple suggestions for the site/forum and if Coomer has enough time afterwards might look into. -------------------- |

Wow Coomer, you've been really getting into 6GC recently... Thanks!!!
Ok, just made everyone's inboxes bigger! One thing I've noticed is that on the main forum page, looking at the listing of all forums It continues to reload, and reload, you have to reach up and hit Stop so that it will stay still. Not a big deal but the sort of thing you might look at when you get the time What browser and operating system are you on? Is that happening to anyone else? I have this problem - Windows 8 using the Internet Explorer 'windows app' (the one that launches from the metro splash screen). This morning when I tried each time it refreshed the times of recent posts were jumping forward and back an hour on every refresh too... if that gives you any clues? Only happens on the main Forums page. I've taken to using Firefox in desktop mode now which doesn't have the issue... but it would be nice to be able to use both (and not scare off newbies with glitches). I do not know the technical reasons behind this, but why can't we just upload photos into our threads or posts with out going thru photo bucket? I don't post much about my 6gc on here because I always have issues uploading on photo bucket thru my mobile device because my laptop is crap. Lol I guess what I'm saying is it would be nice to just upload photos straight from my mobile device rather then going thru a second cite first. The embedded videos can be annoying but I don't care either way. "That's all I have to say, about that." - Forest Gump. I agree that this would be nice. It would cost slightly more in terms of storage/bandwidth on the server, and I'm not sure how much work it would be to implement. I'll look into it. That would be nice and would also stop the issues of having all of the old dead links from inactive members that we can't chase up any more to get the pictures re-uploaded. However, I can't imagine the strain it would put on your servers to handle the amount of photos that get uploaded to the site... and you would need a system of compressing the images or limiting file size uploads, and it takes more effort for us to compress an image than upload to photo bucket so not sure if it defeats the purpose Can you reset the member map page so that active members can out there current location many members that are in there are Inactive I might be able to make it only include members who have been active in the last X months. I know it's certainly possible, but it might be way too slow. What do you guys think would be a good threshold? 3 months? Personally I would say a year... because its not unusual for members to drop off for that long and being able to see them and send them a PM may get them back here when they get the email alert. It may make the map less useful for those in highly 6GC populated areas though. 3 Months would certainly be a more accurate representation of the active members though. -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |
