anybody know if the Rav4 had a 5sfe? the motor I've got is clearly a 5sfe out of the 98+ revision, just need to see if this is the same as the 98 rav4.
some show it as a 5sfe, some call it a "2.0L" , the salvage place I'm looking to get a head from lists it as compatible with 98+ camry, solara ect. or maybe the rav4 has a 3sfe, then is the head the same as the 5sfe? All 5SFE heads have the spot for the distributor and the bolt holes for it as well. The only different thing is that they DON'T come with one, because of the coil packs, and they come with a distributor blockoff plug which can be removed by taking off the valve cover and removing the far right cap that holds the distributor in place.
Source: I have a 5SFE 98+ Camry engine in my Celica. I removed the balance shafts, I am using the coilpacks as well as the cam sensor it has a provision for and the crank sensor that comes on the oil pump on this revision.
