I used the search function but I was unable to find anything relevant, so I apologize if this has been answered before.
Do any members have experience with car seats for kids being used in the back seat? What brands/models work or don't work? Is it possible to disconnect the passenger side airbag so that a car seat could be used in the front? Thank you, Slo |

Im not super familiar with booster seats at all , but I do know that the Bride/Recaro/ other "racing seat" booster seat applications are extremely dangerous for kids to be put in. They may look cool, but can be a huge hazard to your child and should not be used whatsoever.

Lets go with your quote. Keeping in mind that booster (or any booster/convertible seats are intended for rear seat applications only) Yeah. Lets keep in mind that I am in no way biased. But you do know that the Recaro Vivo (high back) is what I use. I wonder why its listed on the IIHS "best picks" and has a huge positive rating amongst people who actually utilize them. So if your not familiar with the application your opinion is void (and ive seen the prostitutes in Thailand...soooo) I will tell you from personal experience that the Recaro line of seats are fine. That being said its all about belt positioning. You could have a high rated seat that would fail miserably in the wrong vehicle. But speaking from personal experience the reason why I went with the Vivo is due to the smaller footprint. Lets face it, the rear seats are barely places to sit for a grown person let alone some bloated car seat that has all the "goodies" (drink holder, snack tray, headrest speakers, etc). Ive used the hell outta this thing. Its held up wonderfully. It fits right in the recess of the seats. Although I do wish my 94 came with a latch system. But we all cant afford a spec 5 point harness system for all passengers. But again thats my experience. Hell, its why we chose to get another Recaro seat for our other kid. Long story short. If you feel with whatever seat you buy for your kid is not sufficient enough you have 3 choices. 1. Shop around till you fimd something you feel comfortable with. 2. Dont transport the kid in the Celica. 3. Sell your car because it will never meet your needs. Either way do some research and come to the conclusion on your own. Safety of your kids is paramount, I understand. But you wont feel right till you do, if that makes any sense. |
