Started this thread for all discussions not involving the Celica, or it can involve the Celica I suppose. This way you can talk about ANYTHING that has happened during your day that you'd like to share with everyone. Had a bad day at work, share. Bought an awesome pet rock, share. Found the best new noms ever, share. Did something to your other car, share. Anything that makes me embarrassed, awkward, and makes me turn red in general, keep to yourself.
Amendment: Anything remotely embarrassing makes me turn red, so... This post has been edited by Box: Jan 22, 2021 - 2:21 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The stock suspension is crap and rides worse than the Celica did lowered, the handling is ok but there's too much roll to instill confidence, the chassis flexes and moans more than a two dollar whore, and the seats are a joke and offer no lateral support. Sure you can fix most of it through bandaging, but if it was a good car it'd be fine out of the factory.

Not that I have a notion you'll be swayed from your current opinion, but have you driven one besides your example? I think it might just be a bit worn. The chassis isn't "stiff" from factory but it's certainly a little more tight than the Celica's. The steering feedback and push gives away that much. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I've driven a NB which was better, but that's really not a fair comparison given the fact it was some ten years newer on top of the years of improvements that had been made. It's a twenty-five year old convertible, and my first convertible at that. I imagine the slew of braces to reduce flex and the hardtop to dampen the noise would make a notable improvement. Side thought; the steering is stupidly light on the Miata, I'd like to find a non-powered rack to convert it. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

My 90 with just coils handles extremely well. flat through corners, good weight in steering and great road feel. Hardtop on makes for a great little coupe, hardtop off adds the awesome noise of the exhaust and open top feeling i know and love. maybe you should try a few mods (which are cheap as dirt for miata's) prob starting with the all important driver mod (and more seat time) -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX.
