Tried to open up the Figure 8 link today and this is what it looks like inside ...

Its not a ball joint ...

Its the same for the centre part of the superstrut lower arms .. it knocks due to worn out plastic housing of the stud in it (freeplay) ..
Will try to machine a custom teflon housing to remove the freeplay ...

so its best to go to my local machine shop to get an opinion on how to rebuild these control arms?
