I finally got around to finish up the installation of a thermostatic controlled sandwich adapter and oil cooler and ran the car for about 5 minutes. No leaks. Road Test pending as I am doing other stuff to the car.

Since we all know that 7AFE engines run hot and bake the oil if not taken care off. So I found a potential solution. I purchased a 7x10 inch oil cooler and a Derale brand thermostatic-controlled sandwich adapter that opens around 180 degrees. I then installed it in between the oil filter and oil filter nipple. Ran two hoses (forward and return) to the front of the car and installed the oil cooler there. In the garage, the car warmed up nicely but the temperature needle did not go halfway as it used to do. So far so good. Its a simple install.

Here are the pictures. Total cost around $120 (including mistakes)

The sandwich adapter I used is Darale 25783 Low Profile thermostatic adapter with pressure relief.

Thanks

Welcome.

"You'll find you're better off getting an oil filter that's wider in diameter with that sandwich plate"

Yes, the Darale adapter comes with a spec sheet that recommends several different oil filters.

"The oil cooler radiator, what is it from?"

I purchased it from ebay. When I get home, I will find the company name but it is really strong built and thick too. Feels very durable and finish is very good. I think it was around $45. The reason I picked this size as it fits in the space in front of the condensor, without leaving any space between it and the condensor.

I have been running this for a few weeks. After a couple of days, there was a leak developed in one of hoses that was fixed. Since then it has been running fine.

Edit: The shop name is Speed Daddy powder coated all aluminum.
