Hey guys i'm thinking of swapping a 2grfe into my ae92, but i'm having a very very hard time finding an E153. My question is will it be worth it to find one, a year ago I rebuilt my s54 with a Quaife LSD and replaced some syncro's and worn gears. I may use the s54 for now, it just seems very difficult to find a FWD e153 and I can't find to much info on anyone's preference to the E53's. I don't drag race and I use my car mainly for hpde track events and autocross. However on the back of my mind I feel like why put an engine with good power in if I can't even abuse it without something breaking.
Also one big think that may make this swap hard is the amount of space I have, I know the 6th gen celica has way more room. I'm not to worried because cutting and welding isn't a problem. here's what I mean by my space issue. ![]() This post has been edited by rdyzz: Jan 18, 2015 - 3:38 AM |

Thanks for the reply, I did read norberto's post. It does seem like a bit of work and even more hurdles. After reading his post I can only assume that IF I do go through with the swap the challenge with space will be two folds of norberto's. As it stands the 3s alternator is very close to my hood. I also don't like the idea that the 2gr is 1" closer to the ground, but near 300whp and gobs of unuseable fwd torque makes it very appealing as a next step up engine, especially in this day and age when a angry soccer mom with a honda odyssea or toyota sieanna can leave a blank look on your face.
As for finding a newer camry/solora transmission ive look for 2 months onlkne now but none to be found. I can however find the early e53 from 3vz camrys. But as said theres not much info on their use as a swap. This post has been edited by rdyzz: Jan 18, 2015 - 2:08 PM |
