So the 5SFE in my 94 has unfortunately died and I'm possibly looking at replacing it with a 5S out of a 96 Camry. The only issue I have with that is the 96+ are OBDII instead of the OBDI in my Celi.
How hard is it to swap the engine and everything over? -------------------- 2007 Impreza 2.5i - Daily

Your build thread I posted a lot of the differences between the engines and years. As far as going auto to manual you'll have to use your flywheel and clutch along with installing a pilot bearing. Depending on the age of your clutch you might just want to go ahead and buy the Exedy kit. The one advantage is you'll be able to place both engines side by side and mix and match until you have what it practically another Celica engine.

The clutch was just replaced in the fall when my old one went on me. There's now a 94 Camry that just got posted up today with 133k kms that I would love to snatch up. I'm just not sure if it has the 5S or the 1MZ. That thing is still a baby! -------------------- 2007 Impreza 2.5i - Daily
