Hey, guys.

I recently picked up an original CD/Cassette combo stereo for my '97 Celica. When I got the car, it had a basic aftermarket unit in it and had very limited connectivity for any external media. Basically, just discs and radio. So I pulled it out after getting the new stereo and saw that it needed a different connector. What I'm needing is an adapter that can connect the left/right blue female plugs to the male input on the back of the stereo. Please see the pics below.

Doing a little research, I found that some Celicas came with their own external amplifier and I'm guessing it's what usually came in Celicas with this stereo system. I'm also not entirely sure if I actually need an amp for this unit to work. So for now, I just need to know what connector I need to try it out. Been to a couple auto parts stores and surprisingly, their selection was limited (one didn't even have any Toyota style connectors).

I appreciate any help, thanks!

Junk yard is probably your only option. Metra makes harnesses for putting new head units in to work with the existing amps but not to connect the original head unit, or at least that I have seen.

My car has the 8 speaker system and originally had an amp under the driver seat and another under the head unit. I took all of that out and got and aftermarket amp to drive the 8" subs and used the new head unit to drive the rest of the speakers. I don't believe you can use the original head unit without the amps, or at least one of them. Depends if you have the 4, 6, or 8 speaker setup.
