Hey guys, I am doing a manual swap in my 95 gt convertible. I now have my parts car, but I am very stressed out trying to decide what clutch to get. I wi be boosting it as well, around 8 psi. Any thoughts on what clutch kit to get for my soon to be 5sfte??? I've been looking at the stage 2 clutch kits on ebay, (xtr, ufc, ppc, fx, emc) these are all around $100, and say the can handle about 268 hp, 248 lbs of torque.
I've seen ppl online saying ebay clutches are junk, n others saying they are not....I would appreciate any input or experiences anyone has had. I've also looked a bit into Exedy, ACT, and Competition Clutch. Any input on these as well? Are they worth the extra $300?? I will be driving my car around town, not any race tracks. I dont want it too gabby to where it's annoying to drive in stop n go traffic, but I don't want it slipping at all under boost when I get on it. Please anyone's input, I'm driving myself nuts trying to decide!! |

ACT clutches have gone to crap. their quality and customer service is junk. Southbend clutches have held up and I have one in every one of my cars. Southbend has recently caught my eye, is this a higher end brand? I was looking at the southbend stage 2 daily drive kit, rated at 225 lbs for about $300, and the stage 2 extreme rated at 300 lbs for about $400. Any thoughts on which would be better for me? I don't want to have a higher performance clutch than I need. I want to try to keep the feel smooth and as close to stock as I can, as I will be driving in town a lot. |
