Well maybe this will help in your journey, I will be using the following for my doors;

MB Quart RCE216 Component Set...

Now here is what I am doing, since door speakers generally sound like **** simple by adjusting your window up or down you loose depth. so what I plan to do is box out the back of the speaker area, and reform my bottom door panel (where the speaker grill and map pocket are) to create a ported box, this will give my speakers the depth it needs and keep it from changing its resonance when rolling up and down the window.

Keep in mind when your going for SQ (Sound quality) everything has to appear to be coming from the front of the car, in theory if you turn your radio on and close your eyes you are suppose to be able to hear each instrument play exactly where it suppose to on a stage. Putting 8's in your front door panel wont help at all, in order to achieve sound quality your mids and highs must be strongest up front, and your rear fill (normally coaxials in the rear) are to be roughly mid level from the front (example if you ran 60w each to your fronts, 30w or 40w each would be sufficient for the rear fill) your subs should keep up with your fronts therefore 60w to each sub would NOT be sufficient since it has a longer travel to your ear than the fronts, so 120w to the rear each would be sufficient...of course this is just a rough example none of these figures mean jack ****... im just explaining staging.

oh, and NEVER use a headunit to power your door speakers... you could buy the best speakers offered, if you power em with your HU you mine as well have stock speakers.
