Thanks for the tips dg. One thing to note - the failed motor I pulled form my car still appeared functional outside the car. It would run fine when removed but under load the gear would slip. I disassembled it and found that the pins used to hold the gear in place had sheared off (common issue). I believe the newest version of the motor 409A590 may have used a D-shaft instead of the prone to fail pin. I don't know if the 409A588 used a pin or d-shaft without seeing the motor without the attached gearbox.
