Well today I noticed my inner shaft seal is seeping as well as the rear main seal is seeping. I think it is time to replace the clutch as well.

1. Any how to or removing the manual transmission on 7AFE engine?
2. Should I replace with OEM or after market?
3. IF aftermarket which brand?

Thanks in advance.

Engine is 7AFE, Car is 1996 ST hatchback.

For removing the transmission the easiest way I found was to remove the engine with the trans still attached. My case I had some corrosion on the guidepins and it wouldn't break free from the motor. But basic how to is....

1 - remove the starter
2 - remove the rear transmission mount from the transmission
3 - prepare to support the transmission weight with a jack or hoist
4 - remove bolts that mount transmission to motor
5 - remove transmission mount on drivers side
6 - pry and wiggle transmission from motor and be careful not to damage flywheel cover
7 - drop from engine bay

Got mine out in about an hour, worst part was fighting with the guidepins and clearing the rear transmission mount as it would not unbolt from the transmission and I had to pull the center bolt from the mount. Hopefully this helps some, sorry for no pics to explain.
