I am new to this site. I have a 94 ST that I want to swap a 3sgte engine into. I have read the Engine Swap topic that is on the main page. I am planning on ordering a st185 front clip from Jarco in the near future. I know that the st185 and the st205 are different body styles but is it built on the same chasis? What else would I need to complete this swap? I am going to be ordering the front clip, not just the motor. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the site. Many of us either have or are researching this same swap. There is a ton of information here and on celica.net. The best thing you can do in the short term is to learn how to use the search functions of these sites. In that way, you can benefit from the countless hours of discussion that has already been had on this topic. Also, you should know that some people will be harsh if you ask a question without researching. Here are a few things I have learned in preparation for my swap:
1. Buying a clip saves headaches. You are on the right track. You should find out the questions you should ask when buying a clip. I recommend this thread: Questions when buying a clip 2. Read a lot about transmissions. If you are going to stick with stock boost on the ST185 your cheapest route is to buy a S-54 transmission from a 6th generation GT. Some question its integrity even at that level but most claim its sufficient. There is a great unresolved debate about this but it is true that many people have had troubles with S series tranmissions in the swap - most because of high horsepower applications. As luck would have it, I will have one for sale by the time you likely get around to doing this. You may want to consider the MR2 or solara transmission (E-153). This also requires axel modification and sourcing. There are several good right ups on transmissions on these web pages. Here are a few: MR2 Tranny swap instructions E-153 axel set-up 3s-gte trannies worthy of power 3. Buy a wiring harness from Mike Coury. He is a member here and on celica.net. He sells them for about $400 and this purchase will address the most difficult part of the swap for you. His screen name is Qatar11. Don't bother him until you are ready to buy - he is a busy guy. 4. Seriously consider a brake upgrade. 5. Find a talented mechanic if you can't handle the work. This is obviously just a start - but it should send you in the right direction. Good luck and, once again, welcome to 6gc. Its a great community of enthusiasts. Jay.
