This just cropped up over the winter first winter it was regularly driven here in Canada. My 96, GTfour.
Basically it started squeaking at front left shock, now both front and swing arms etc just... Incredibly squeaky all in the front. I think some of the old grease and lubrication was weak and got rinsed out from the winter driving perhaps and now need some TLC to make it less embarrassing sounding. I'm about to do the oil change in a week or so, and Jack it all up and try to lube everything hoping that fixes the issue, but I've tried looking for a grease guide what fittings might use x grease etc but haven't found anything or recommendations? Specially just the front area is squeaking heavily not just under spring compression just rolling over uneven ground etc slowly creaks and groans. Any help would be massively appreciated. |

So small update as I was doing oil change today, the sound was very very obviously coming from the suspension struts. More on the driver side coming down. But more squeaky when leaning on nose of car on left(passenger) side
It's was extremely audible as car was being jacked up and down while the wheels were compressing or decompressing the shocks. None of the swing arms or figure 8 stuff were showing any play or noise. Wheel bearing also same. When car was fully jacked down the suspension on both sides, while it was lowering it would surge a bit as it seemed like there was some resistance. It would drop out a bit, when it was fully down it dropped another few inches after the jack was out and bumped each side. I silicone lubed the crap out of all the connections but no real improvement at least yet with the noise. Strut gone? |
