IMO, foam filter elements are bad. Replacing the foam gets expensive, if you can't reuse the element. Not to mention that certain foam elements use fairly large openings to allow for more flow at the expense of filtration (HKS TRF). I've heard of too many coming apart in intakes to ever use one on my car, even if the evidence is anecdotal at best. K&N is the best compromise for me of filtration, flow, and maintenence.
I'd like to know what the A'Pexi intakes are made of, they seem to be some material that never needs cleaning, and flow well too. Link to the imfamous air filter comparison done in Japan. |
