does anyone know how much shorter the TRD short shifter is then the stock?

Most short shifters actually increase the effort it takes to shift. That's a common by-product of reworking the angles of the shifter. The factory designed it to reduce effort (hence the factory knob being so heavy). To shorten the throw, you would have to increase effort.
