First, has any one done this, or do they just go right to the 3s-gte?? also, gt tranny will bolt right up, but i was told, or read that it wont handle that much power?? its only 177 hp, an 150 trq? is that to the wheel or crank? also what else would i need besides gt engine mounts?? Thanks
also does any one know where else, i could locate, a harness an comp?? This post has been edited by Digndoug: Apr 12, 2004 - 2:38 PM |

Ignitors aren't mounted on an engine or harness... and typically speaking, JDM engines when imported have cut harnesses. That's the problem with buying just a long block... finding all of the missing parts. Ignitors are probably unique only to those engines, and ignitors from other cars most likely won't work... unless of course you can cross-refrence with part numbers. However... if you happen to have bought one with an ignitor and wiring still complete... all that's needed to be modified is the body harness (all of the wiring under the dash) and modify the engine harness and re-pin the wires to match the ECU/sensors/plugs, etc... As for the tranny... if it came with and auto tranny... you'll need a flywheel also. 3SGE flywheels aren't exactly easy to find either... but luckily... 3SGTE flywheels work the same... but then again, those aren't easy to find very cheap either. GT flywheels (5SFE flywheels) do NOT fit (but the GT tranny will). While on that subject... you'll need shift-linkages and drive axles from a GT also (I believe the splines on the hubs are the same). ST ones don't fit. As for the motor mounts... GT ones will work, assuming you mount them in the factory positions identical to a GT. There are more obstacles that will most likely pop up. I'm just stating the basic mechanical stuff that you'll need in order to just bolt the engine into the engine bay. Beyond that is wiring... and that's not my game... ;] -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
