Got my 1200 dollar system last week- and of course the W3 JLs rattled the trunk like crazy. So I decided to soundproof the **** out of it.
2 layers of dynamat on every surface but the wall leading into the passenger compartment, 40 sq feet of dynamat. Retails for 450 thereabouts- got it for 170 through some Best Buy connections. WOOT. Anyway, the stuff works GREAT. There's almost no trunk rattle at all- the gas cap still rattles and so does the spot where the carjack used to go on the other side of the car.. but I've still got 4 square feet left over and I'll do that stuff tomorrow. But yeah, I have to turn the subs ALL the way to hear anything. Dynamat is the **** if you have the money. But, it's SHARP. I have bandaids on 3 fingers from applying it. Then the horror starts- one of the speaker screws on my RF amp stripped- and now won't screw in all the way. Spent 3 hours trying to get that amp to work. Finally gave up on the various screws and left it with only one sub plugged in. Fixing EVERYTHING tomorrow. But dynamat's da bomb. |

I dynomatted the trunk carpet walls- so it still looks totally stock. haha. was a pain to mold tho. I'll take some picts of the dynomat later.. but it's kinda hard since I'd have to take everything out. For now, check my car domain for the actual sound system.
