Okay, I don't have a lot of time right now, and I did do a quick search, but couldn't find the answer to my question... maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but oh well...

My question is, what do yinz redline at? Everyone I know redlines at 6,400 rpm. Every aftermarket gauge has the same redline marking. Yet, my celi won't go any higher than 6,000 rpm, and redlines at about 5,700 rpm...

Is this normal for a 97 ST Coupe?

is the 7afe really safe to rev past that? Last time I checked they arent exactly bulletproof engines. But hey I could be wrong.

The 7A block has been proven to rev up to 8000+ rpms and live on stock rods and crank. Club4AG guys have built race spec 7AGEs and run them at and beyond 8000 rpms all the time... mind you, that's with relatively stock 7AFE rods and crank.

The reason not to rev... well, you'll get valve float if you rev a stock head like that (GE or FE)... and it doesn't make any power past that without performance cams.

As for my 7AFE... the rev limter is at 6700 something...
