I was curious- is it possible to get a gt-4 swap to pass smog testing in CA? Obviously you can pay lotsa $$$ to get one illicitly, but is it possilbe to do any mods to get one passed without doing this?

Has anyone tried legally to do it? What was the score, if so? Thanks!

Mind you if they notice you dont have an EGR valve, your screwed. Sooo... pray

California Laws are different. It's standard procedure to check the EGR for fuctionality... and they should never miss it, assuming the shop is good.

Scoob... you can just use the USDM manifolds, EGR equipment, and ecu for the BAR ref, then for the smog after the BAR gives you a legal swap sticker. Just claim the motor is from a 95 MR2 turbo. Technically speaking... the motor will pass the sniffer assuming the CAT is in good condition and the motor is in good running order...
