Aight people ive been thinkin bout getting the 3sgte jdm ST185 motor for my car but it seems to me that there is tones of custom work that needs to be done in order to mount it and make it work. What i really need to know is do u need parts extra (like new exhaust or an intercooler) just to run the danm thing.??
And also ive seen the Burian Turbo but it is 2,500 bucks and im wondering if thats the cheapest bang for my buck deals. Also is the Burian Turbo going to require extencive custom work by myself?? |

No, the burien kit will not require extensive mods to install. It shoudl come with everything you need and the instructions are actually very detailed and easy to follow. But of course there are downsides to this kit. It does come with everything you need, but it lacks some major things to keep boosting a 5s reliably such as timing control, some sort of piggy back fuel control, and cooling. You can actually put together your own kit for about $1000 cheaper. Boosting the 5s can be a tricky business, but can be great if done correctly.
Also, it depends on how much power you are looking for. A 5sfte is only good for up to 200 hp. Anything more than that you should go for the 3sgte which is 225-250 out of the box, with the potential for much much more. One more thing, if you are looking at getting a jdm engine, take a look at your state emission laws to make sure that you wont run into any trouble with the state after you do the swap. -------------------- Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it... |
