Hey guys, I'm from the UK and have a question...
Do any of you know if anyone has tried to swap the already cool 174bhp 3S-GE engine from the 6th gen GT for the more powerful 189bhp 2ZZGE from the 7th gen GT-S, and whether or not it would work. Because if it would work, it would make big HP gains very easy. Not necessarily cheap, what with the engine swap and all...but easy. For example (and I can only speak for what's available here in the UK) you can simply bolt on a Blitz Supercharger and hey presto, you've got a 2ZZGE that turns out 260 horses. Any idea if it would work? The only thing I'm not sure about is if the VVTLi would get in the way of it working. But then, on saying that the Lotus Elise (an already hardcore machine) was recently made more extreme by putting the 2ZZGE in it's ultra-lightweight body after Lotus bought some of the engines off Toyota, and that worked out fine. One UK site off the top of my head for anyone who wants to take a look: http://www.fensport.co.uk (UK Toyota Tuning Specialists) Cool site, btw. Every1 keep flyin' the flag for the 6th gen Celica! |

you have to do this if swapping a 3sgte into a ST anyways, but the bigest reasons why the 2zz isn't feasable is because the engine will be very hard to find used considering that is still realatively new and would be very very expensive new or used, and it just doesn't put out enough power, 3sgte is bigger stonger, has more options already set up for turbo which is the easiest way to make power and is just a better all around engine, i mean you could have just read the sticky for feasable engine swaps at the top of the thread list but i told you anyway -------------------- |
