Particle board is a really bad choice. MDF works really well and HDF if you can find it is even better.
Coomer nailed it particle board will flex to eaisly. You should be able to get a sheet of MDF at home depot or lowes. A sheet 4x8 is about $20 and 80 pounds. Also MDF acutally comes 49"x97" they sneek in an extra inch so you can clean up the edges and still have a full sheet. When you work with it wear a dust mask. It's nasty stuff, sawdust and glue. It's fairly easy to work with except for the weight. Predrill your holes and don't over-tighten the screws. A coarse thread drywall screw works well. Also don't forget the glue. I personally coat my finished enclosures with a coat of polyurethane inside and out because water will destroy MDF. |
