Got my car in mid January with 90k on the dash and the understanding that not to far ahead in her life she would need a clutch. Well now it's almost March and I've been making due with it and not experiencing to much slippage. Then I replaced my exhaust and have been tearing around this city with no reservations. So of course I am now noticing that at certain times when I step on the gas in say 3rd and on the highways the rpms dance higher but my car isn't pulling any harder. So I figure the cutch is slipping but it doesn't happen all the time and not necesarily when it's hot. Im looking into a higher performance clutch to replace the retarded one. My dad figured out how much a replacement would cost with labor and said it's about a 10 hour job. Since his mechanics are busy and work tractors and trailors he said a Toyota Shop would run us about $1000 with labor. Would anyone be able to tell me how much it cost them to replace their clutch. Also, does anyone recomend any certain clutchess for a higher performance application. I'm still looking at autocross and run my car hard on the streets so something street/strip im guessing. Much thanks men!

I know of several gen 6 owners from a UK celica site that have all had to change their clutches at around the 65-75 K miles mark. This must be the normal life for them, a bit short I reckon though I had to do mine at 67,000 cost me £230 (around $300) altogether, at a local reliable garage.
Toyota wanted about £500 ($700) ouch! ![]() -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill.
