Yesterday as I was driving home, a really bad metallic rattling noise started coming from the tranny, and I have a feeling that something broke off or a bolt came loose inside the tranny. The constant chattering noise at idle from what I suspect is a bad throw-out bearing or a loose pressure plate or flywheel is also worse than ever. So before I can drive the car again, I need to pull off the tranny and see what's up. It still drives fine(aside from grinding going into first and reverse...but that's hydraulic-related), but I'm deathly afraid of an exploding flywheel.
I figure that while I'm doing this, I'll replace the lightweight flywheel with my OEM AE101 flywheel, because I hate the lightweight unit...it's far too light for street use. Because I used a 200mm flywheel for an AE86, and the AE101 OEM flywheel is 212mm, I also need a new clutch, so I'm going to get an Exedy OEM-spec clutch kit eventually, if I can ever get my debts paid off. I read Sev's how-to on how to pull out the tranny, and assuming I can find tools somewhere to do this, I'm hoping to have the tranny off tonight. Do you guys have any tips on how to change a clutch? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

you dont need to resurface the flywheel if its used. just clean off the pressure plate with brake fluid to remove the protectant seal and use BLUE loctite to hold the bolts down. torque em to specs and you should be good to go.
let me know if you have any problems Christian. --Scott -------------------- hows it taste motha f*cka
