well, i tapped my oil pan about a week ago and it was working fine. but after few days, i saw very small leak, very minor. but tonight, when i was driving i smelled an awful smell. when i got home, i popped the hood and found out my engine bay was covered in oil.
my freaking barb in the oil pan came out! the nut was tight on the other side so i dont know how it got loose. i was running around trying to figure out a way to patch up until i get it fixed. i patched it with jb weld and a penny. i hope it will hold up until i get time to get underneath it to put tap back in. last time i just used gasket sealer to seal it but next time, im going to jb weld it or actually take oil pan off and get it welded on (going to try jb weld first due to less troublesome) i had to take off crossmember and tranny heat shield to get oil pan out, i dont feel like doing that again but word of advice, dont tap your oil pan and depend on a nut to hold it in. i learned the hard way. |

idk if that is such a good idea, unless u chop down the tube so that is below the level of the turbo. i drilled and tapped my oil pan and put a nut with a rubber washer on it and it held fine with no problems. and its still holding fine on forkees car if you dont do it right, then it will fall apart and ruin your oil pan, which toyota wants $300 for a replacement, and junk yards want $100 -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
