I finally got to the track to run the car.
I babied it off the line(i got the 5s tranny) and i am only running 13 psi with 18" tires but overall i had good times. 1/4 mile times were at 14.4 and 14.5 the whole time top speeds were 97 and 98 mph i think if i run it again i am gonna put the stock 15" rims on and turn the boost to about 16-17 and see what happens! I think 13's are easily within reach! DG -------------------- |

Super, don't gimmie that ****. After 10 psi, the CT26 turbo (non supra model) is out of it's prime efficiency range; you can see this by looking at a compressor graph for one (although; I have NOT seen a compressor graph for the CT26) it's a well known, well documented issue that I kept running into on MR2 boards. Quite simply, he's not going to see much gain past 10 psi; because the turbo can't handle the additional air pressure on the compressor wheel. It's much like how in the 3000GTs, after 6000 rpms the stock boost controller drops the boost level. The issue is SO important, and SO documented; that I made it my first topic in this post: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14345 If you dyno tested the 3sgte at 8 psi, 9 psi, 10 psi, 11 psi; you'd see the gains you make by upping the boost level steadily drop; it's out of it's efficiency level. Picking a turbo thats right for your efficiency level is pretty standard knowledge; for 15 psi the CT26 turbo is simply FAR removed from that. |
