Ok guys and gals,
Some of you probably remember how I said I was going to email some companies and ask if they'd make some clear corners for our cars. On February 17, 2003, I sent this message to OBX, APC, and ProCarParts(This is the one to OBX, the others were identical except the company names were changed.):

QUOTE
Dear OBX,
My name is Christian Coomer. I am a seventeen-year-old car enthusiast who
drives a 1994 Toyota Celica. I also am the developer and owner of a website
that is dedicated to Toyota Celicas from 1994 to 1999, which is the sixth
generation Toyota Celica. My website is available at http://www.6gc.net, and
is named 6G Celicas. The website contains message forums, a parts database,
how-to articles, an information database, a members' rides section, a
history of the sixth generation Celica, and much more. As I compose this
message, 6G Celicas currently has 953 registered members and
12,764 forum posts, and these numbers rise every day.

Since the site's introduction on August 29, 2002, I have had the opportunity
to speak with numerous Celica enthusiasts much like myself, and a few part
manufacturers, and I have learned a lot about what the sixth generation
Celica community desires for their cars. As you may know, the front turn
signals on the 1994 and 1995 Toyota Celicas are different than those on the
1996 through 1999 Celicas. The 1996 and up front turn signals can easily be
modified to be turned into clear corners, or if enthusiasts wish to do so,
aftermarket clear corners are available for purchase for these newer
Celicas. I have talked to many people who own a 1994 or 1995 Toyota Celica,
and the majority of those that I've gotten in touch with strongly desire
clear front turn signals for their car. Some people, myself included, have
made our own clear front turn signals, but it is a tough process to undergo,
and they never turn out as good as professionally manufactured clear
corners. In all of the cases that I have seen, a person looking at the clear
corners can definitely tell that they are home-made.

This is where your company could come in. I, along with many other Celica
enthusiasts, would love to have professionally made clear corners for our
cars. If OBX Racing Sports made clear front turn signal lights for our cars, I would
guess that you would generate a profit. I realize that it must be a lot of
work to begin manufacturing clear corners for a specific vehicle, but I
would imagine that your company would be able to sell lots of these lights.
Not only are there already many enthusiasts with the desire to buy clear
turn signals for our 1994 and 1995 Celicas, but as the cars get older and
the selling prices go down, the sixth generation Celica is becoming more and
more popular among young people, who are the most likely to want to buy
clear corners and other aftermarket modifications for their vehicle. I
believe that the market for these lights is large, and is only going to get
bigger within the next couple years. I would be willing to send in my stock
amber turn signals for research and development purposes, and I, along with
the rest of the sixth generation Celica community, would greatly appreciate
it if you would at least consider this proposal for clear front turn signals
for the 1994 and 1995 Toyota Celicas. Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,
Christian Coomer

That was nearly a month ago, and I have yet to recieve a single informative reply or even an email acknowledging that they recieved my emails. So this proposal does not look promising with those companies. frown.gif

Does anyone have any thoughts on additional companies I should contact? Or does anyone have any ideas on how we could get some professionally-made clear corners for our cars?

Thanks for the effort Coomer. But realistically I think we both knew it wasn't going to work out. Most of these companies don't care about cars with relatively small aftermarket followings like our cars. They would much rather create a new type of altezza lights for civics than have to take measurements from a donor car etc etc etc.
