I found a MR2 turbo E153 transmission im thinking of using in my 3sgte swap. The only thing is that the bell housing is empty.....no clutch set-up. Now when i get my ST185 swap that comes with the awd tranny......can i use the GT4 clutch set up with the E153 transmission? I figured it should work if the shafts coming from the transmission and the bell housings are the same size......right? I doubt it, but i thought Id ask since both transmissions paired up with the 3sgte.

Actually, it depends on the size of the flywheel, so it might or might not work. There's a good chance the GT4 flywheel is much larger than the MR2 turbo, but it's alos possible they're the same thing. If they are the same size, it'll work. I do believe the splines are the same from the tranny to the clutch between the AWD tranny and Mr2 Turbo tranny.
In my opinion... once you have it all apart, go with a new clutch kit. It'll be pretty bad if you go ahead and put on the old GT4 clutch kit, putting the engine back together, all back into the car, only to find out the clutch is bad and slips like hell. That'll suck like sh1t... cause it's a lot of work. This post has been edited by Kwanza26: Oct 5, 2004 - 5:22 PM -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
