"clunkity clunk clunk" strut mounts anyone?? i work at toyota, and as far as ive read into, and correct if im worng, no one has yet to mention the possibility or strut mounts. when a strut mount goes bad, it becomes increasingly obvious with time. in the begginings, you will just barely notice clunking in the morning or when its cold. after too long, you will hear them over every bump. to check them you can have someone jounce the car up and down while you feel the top of the strut nut. if it hops up and down excissively and and you can tell the diffrence as if it were a new car... bingo. in this guys case with the post new KYB strut installation noise, its possible the installer did not sit the strut mount properly aligned onto the strut grooves. that happens alot. strut mounts tend to go bad typically around 100K miles or so. hope this helps. |
