The reception is just as good. I dont think sev replaced the mount, he just used the 6th gen. What you do is take out the entire unit, and pretty much replace it with the 7th gen. There are a few peices you still need from the 6th gen assembly, but when you have both mounts its pretty much self explanatory. The antenna plugs are the same.
