Hey guys,
I realise that there are other topics here on what speakers to get and what not, but the problem is, that in our part of the world, there are a lot of different brands that dominate the market. So what I'm wanting to know from other Kiwis (or possibly even Aussies), is what kind of brands are reccommended? I've got a Pioneer head unit (DEH-P7650 - got it dirt cheap), and what I think are stock speakers, with a couple of tweeters. What I'm wanting to do, is replace everything that is in there (apart from the HU), and add a sub. Any suggestions on what kind of speakers & how many, brands/kinds of amps and how many, and also, around how much would I be looking to get it installed? Any Kiwis know of any good places? I mainly listen to rap/hip hop with some R&B, but do crank out the odd Nirvana tune every once and a while, so I suppose I would be looking for a bit of bass. And also, I hate it when stuff rattles when I crank up what I've got, is there any way to lessen/eliminate this? My budget is $2500 (NZD - inc install), but I suppose I could push up on that if it is reccommended. But like anyone else, I would like to save money wherever possible, without sacrificing quality of course. Also, keep in mind I'm not looking for competition level sounds or anything, just something I can crank up with it still sounding clear with low distortion. All help appreciated. Cheers. |

Thanks for all your input guys,
My CD player has 50Wx4 Channels, and I bought it and had it installed in April....do you really reccommend replacing it? As for the $2500 budget, remember that it is NZD (roughly $1700 US Dollars), so its about a grand less than what you may be thinking
Yeah I had been told to stay well away from Sony Good call.
lol a Kiwi is also a flightless bird, but we New Zealanders are sometimes referred to as Kiwis, because they are native to NZ. But moving right along, a lot of the aforementioned brands aren't available in the NZ market (as far as I'm aware), hence asking some local Kiwis and Aussies for input. But I will check around and see if I can find any of the brands you have recommended. I've heard some good things across the forums about them. Thanks dude. What I am now wondering, was if I was going to run the speakers off of a seperate, 4 channel amp, does the HU have much bearing at all on how well the speakers are run or the amount of power output? I spent $100 getting it installed not too long ago (about $70 USD), so I guess I'd be pretty reluctant to get rid of it already. But again, if it does have a negative effect on the rest of the system I suppose I'll have to let it go So basically, from piecing together the info from you guys, this is what I'm looking at: Sub amp - Lanzar? For the one sub, I'd be looking for a mono amp right? Component amp - Again, maybe Lanzar? I'm looking for 4 channel here right? Sub - 12" Pioneer TSW2000spl sound ok? (premier) Components - OK, I know this may sound ignorant and really noobie, but I don't know *&^% about this. So when you guys say components, do you mean ALL four speakers inside the car? Or is it a pair of speakers? Again, apologies for my ignorance. 6gcs3nz and neophile - Do you guys have any sort of guidelines on what kind of $$ I'd be looking at to get this installed? Know of any good places? I haven't got a clue, as you can probably tell. Again, thanks for helping me out guys. |
