3S-GTE vs modded 5S, just thinking Options

i know most people say 3S-GTE because it was made for power...
but just think w/ me for a sec

Cost to swap 3S-GTE into a GT: ~$3000(yes i said $3000)
Mods for 5S-FE:
Camshaft Regrings $500, Guaranteed 30hp(WebCams)
Custom Turbo Kit $1200
Spearco Intercooler $1000
that right there should put you right at, if not over the 3S-GTE's horsepower.
then an ECU programming would be in line, along with possible lowering of compression and all...


just food for thought.
any suggestions why the 5S-FE is a bad idea?

ok well i haven't posted for a while because my computer was serious screwed up...but this caught my eye after it finally got fixed today..

the 5s-fe even turboed would not be nearly as stable as the 3s-gte at 200, 225 or even 255hp (depending on gen).

then think of the possibilities of the 3s-gte.. putting one in your car will not cost you 3000.. if that is including the cost of the engine then maybe you are close. go to www.jarcoinc. they can get you a 6th gen gt-4 clip for 2500 plus shipping... shipping to iowa is only 500.. so there is 3 g's right there... go for a earlier gen engine and just up the boost..you have to remember that to get 250hp on a 5s-fe will put your boost near 15+psi. a 3s-gte can do that at 8psi. up the boost to 15 and you are close to 300 or more...

I hate to be a pessimist but you will blow your engine trying to get a lot of power out of a high compression engine. Then you will probably either end up buying a new 5s-fe or a 3s-gte. So which way is the less expensive for now shouldn't matter. What should matter is which one will get you more power without putting to much money into it.
