Just got a 1999 GT Convertible. I read the book and know that the car has a 15+ gallon tank. However, I am never able to get more than 12.8 gallons in the tank, even when i have driven with the fuel light on for about 15 miles.
What gives? Anyone else have this problem? I guess what I want to know is whether it is shutting off before it fills or if the fuel light is coming on with like 3 gallons left in the tank. I know i read that some of the Scion xA and xB were having some sort of problem such that the only way to fill the tank was to insert the fuel upside down when filling so that the auto shut off would not happen as easily. Please help! I gotta know why I cant get 15 gallons in this thing. Thanks in advance! |

You're not completely empty when you're filling up, that's all... You can only put 12.8 gallons in because there is probably 2.2 still in there. And are you filling it yourself or getting it done at some full service station? They never fill it it all the way, they fill until it clicks off the first time and then round it to the nearest dollar or so. If you really want it filled you have to keep pumping until it won't come out before clicking off.
I wouldn't worry about it. |
