Yea I'm a dj but I'm pretty useless at car audio so I'm seeking a little advise from you guys.
I'm currently running a pioneer deh-9600mp HU, stock speakers in the front and Vibe 6x9's in the back which the previous owner had wired up to an amp. What i want to do right now is to add a 12" Alpine type R sub. The rating on that is 1000 Watts Max Output, 300 Watts RMS. And in a few months time when i got the money add another 12" Alpine and upgrade the front speakers. Now what I need is to know which amp(s) to buy. I really like the Alpine V12 range. http://www.alpine-europe.com/alpine/englis..._v12-series.htm For the moment I'll just need an amp to power the sub and rear speakers so I was thinking either the MRV-F340 or MRV-F450? And then later when i get the second sub and upgraded front speakers I'm thinking maybe the MRV-F540 to power the 2 subs and my original amp can power the speakers? Possibly even one of these mono amps to power the subs? http://www.alpine-europe.com/alpine/englis...ss-d-series.htm I'm a student on a budget so what I want is to get the cheapest amp(s) to just be able to power those subs and speakers comfortably without having a lot of power spare(pay more). Any car audio gurus care to show me the way? Jun This post has been edited by dj_oracle_d: Dec 22, 2004 - 11:40 PM |

the first amp will do fine to power a single Type R(not too bad of a sub by the way), the second would be fine to power two, but id look at the JBL 600.1. it will give each sub 300rms(maybe a little more) and its on sale at www.sounddomain.com for like....$159 or something, JBL makes good qaulity products so you wont go wrong. other amps to look at are..... JL, Kicker, Memphis, Zapco, Xtant, US Acoustics(good deal on them goin on too i think), and MTX... you want an amp that will match the subs rms the best it can....remember the MAX rating on any amp/sub/speaker isnt important, you look at the RMs, and the Type R handles 300. so if you run two you want atleast a 400rms amp......BUT you will be find with the first amp you linked, it will give each sub 150rms. you dont need a ton of power to get loud. i hope i helped. any questions ask. im sure me and some others on here can gladly help.
