i have a 1300mhz athalon computer with 2 hard drives
a 120gb as my master, and a 40gb as my slave i disconnected my slave to put in another, but forgot to set the jumper in the new one to be a slave i realized it when it didn't boot up so i reconnected my old slave and started it up, but i got the same error as with the new drive. i put in the windows 98 rescue disk, started Scandisk, and realized that the problem is that my computer doesn't see that it has any hard drives hooked up can someone please help thanks in advance -------------------- my signature is the coolest.

ok its very important that you connect the drives correctly.
You always want the master drive to be connected at the end of the cable, and the second (slave) to be connected at the middle of the cable. Double check that the master drive is set at master, and the slave drive is set to be slave. If that doesnt work. You can try the CS (cable select ) option on both the drives and see if that works. Last comes to last.. try to swap your cd rom drive cable with the hard drive cable. |
