ok, i noticed about a month or so ago that my car all of a sudden sound a lot deeper in its tone... like i have an exhaust or something... i have not engine mods at all, but the car is at about 176k mi. what could be the problem? im kinda worried because its my only means of transportaton and if its a big problem. i want to fix it now and avoid any further damage, im a broke college student who doesnt have much money to fix, so the earlier the better thanks all... this site works wonders

this is common for a lot of toyota's. The flex pipe will wear and and finally a small hole will develop. The flex pipe is inbetween the immediate exaust piping and the cat (the cat under the car, not the first one). It's a steel braided pipe, and everyonce in a while, i'll run into toyota's with the exact same problem. It's cheap if you just get a knock off version of the flex pipe, and it works just as well. DON'T GO TO TOYOTA
