I've been emailing back and forth with this guy for about a 3 months concerning a '94 MR2T transmission. I sent out a 'WTB' thread on the MR2 boards and this guy emailed me back about this transmission.
After I decided to buy the transmission, we had to figure out a way to get it here. My neighbor owns this soap and candle business that has several loading docks. She offered to ship my transmission with her trucking company that she goes through. It would save me about $200 and I could pick it up whenever without any hassle. My neighbor and I sent this guy 3-ply cardboard boxes to put the transmission in. He had a palette that he would send the transmission on. When he received the boxes, he claims that the they were too big for the palette and that the best he could do was shrink wrap the transmission onto the palette. My neighbor was upset because she knows that the trucking companies are careless about the stuff they are transporting and in the interest of keeping the transmission safe, strongly urged him to use the box anyways. The transmission was scheduled to be picked up from his house on Tuesday. He claims that on Monday night, when he went out to his garage to put the box over the transmission, that the trucking company had come a day early to pick up the transmission and that he never was able to get the box on it. So today, it arrived and when I went to pick it up, my neighbors showed me the transmission. The palette has broken boards, the transmission was tied down to the palette by one single rope, and the shrink wrap was only wrapped on the top have and a piece of crappy cardboard was what the transmission was sitting on with what appeared to be oily blotches on it. My neighbor doesn't think that anything is really wrong with the transmission. Nothing appears to be damaged on the outside. And that leads me to suspect that nothing should be wrong on the inside. Here are some pics of the transmission that I took when I got the transmission to my storage unit. Nothing had been tinkered with. The only thing removed from the transmission was the shrink wrap. Do you guys think anything could be wrong with it? Should I be worried about this at all? Also, look in the first 2 pictures...follow the yellow rope around and see if you can tell what that silver cylinder thing is...
