I love Bees Options

well. I read Bungie.net every once in a while to get the latest Halo 2 news. In a article, they mentioned Ilovebees.com. I checked it out and was oddly confused. Apparently its a giant nation(or world)-wide game that involves finding clues and picking up pay phones. I checked, even my little ass city Marshfield with a pop of 18,000 had a ring on the last date. It was a marketing scheme (but still looked fun) for Halo 2 and thus has ended. Was anyone on here part of this, or know any more info? Also, did something replace Ilovebees?

I did it, it was good times. Ilovebees is an example of or an ARG, or alternate reality game. These type of games aren't really 'games' in the classic sense - they're more like real world mysteries.. They usually consist of a 'puppetmaster' or the person creating the game, and a large online/offline community solving the game. The puppetmaster creates the game on the fly - using the response from the community as help.

The first one of these was for the movie A.I. If you bring up the old AI trailers, you'll notice something strange about the release date in the final scene. The number of notches in each number corresponded to a telephone number which, when you called it- would give you a recording that started off the game. This is called the 'trailhead'. The other trailhead for A.I. was in the credits of the trailer - they listed a Jeanine Salla as Sentient Machine Therapist - a nonexistant position. When you googled her name, you'd get trailhead websites.

The trailhead for I love bees were jars of honey containing the words i love bees sent to several people who played past args. Also, in a halo 2 trailer, the website address was flashed briefly.
