as some of you may know I got into a bit of an accident a few months back. I recently took a trip down to the bodyshop to get an idea of how much the repair would cost. he gave me a great price but also claimed that he could repair the damaged rear bumper. now as far as I know the plastic/urethane composite the bumper covers consist of can not be repaired very easily. does this seem at all questionable to you guys?

here are the pictures:

thanks in advance

it CAN be repaired.

Drill lots of small holes around the crack area, and use Fiberglass on the internal side of the bumper, let the FG dry a bit, and add some more fiber glass from the top of the crack.

About the dent that you have in the middle, use heat gun, around this area, and with the help of a little push, you will get yuor bumper into the place.

take it off the car
you can probably use a small peice of metal from HD
and screw each end of it on either side of the crack at the most top point possible
then use fiberglass and glass the inside and out of the crack to hold it in place once that dries and hardens remove the metal brace that held the crack together and even...glass where the brace was inside and out
lil bondo
sand smooth repaint

if you want ghost i'll meet up with you and probably be able to do the fix on a saturday or sumthing

It wount hold up for long, cuz FG wount stick to the plastic/urethane, thats why you need to drill small holes, that FG could stick.. And if you cover some fg from inside nad outside, it will stick to eatch other by the holes.

And yes, you can add some thin metal plate to even make thisw place stronger.

I fixed my buper like this already 3 times, and it really hold up good, until you hit somthing again (in my case - bicicle... frown.gif )

ok. thats what I wanted to know. I know it can be repaired but I was unsure if I wanted it repaired in that manner. I'm pretty confident the shop can do this type of work so I'll just leave it to them. thank you all for the responses smile.gif

and player thanks for the offer. but I am taking the car back to the shop to get some minor issues with my paint fixed so I'll just have them do it at the same time
