 Cracked Piston Ring?, Need some Help |

My celica is burning a little oil and it only does it when I first start my car off (a little poof) and when I down shift or when I shift at High RPMs. I've been driving my car like an old lady latly to prevent it from getting worse so I need to know. Did I crack one of my piston rings? if so how can I get it checked and how much money would it cost?

there isn't a chance of burning up my engine by using that thicker agent is there?
