 TWM Shifter hits the dash, My hand hurts |

Ok i just bought and TWM shifter and installed it last night it feels great but when shifting into 1st, 3rd, and 5th my fingers hit the dash unless i hold the shiftknob just at the sides did i do something wrong or what? i didn't use the round plate that came with it because i couldnt find a place for it and it works with out it. any help would be nice and thanks in advance

not sure havn't driven it in like 6 months almost
but what i did was place the switches else where and now i'm putting 3 back right there i'll take a pick tomorrow when i work on the car of how close my hand is |
