What are the mechanics behind contorling the level of boost? im a little confused as to how i would contorl it using a ct26 turbo. What do i need and how does it all work?
Also whats the waste gate for? |

Basically what happens is that you have the wastegate from the factory where the turbocharger is made from. It is made to detect the factory specified boost pressure, and once the wastegate detects more than the specified pressure, the wastegate opens, making the exhaust gas bypass the turbine.
Bypassing the turbine wouldn't create any boost, and the wastegate may open little bit to control the boost pressure itself. Having a boost controller will trick the wastegate, so the wastegate will detect 5psi, when you are boosting 10psi. Once the desired boost pressure is reached, the controller then exceeds that stock wastegate release pressure, opening the wastegate to prevent further boost development.. I hope that helped to figure things out for you.. I'm tired and some of these may not make sense. |
